The ST 32 and ST 32-01 are dual function signal conditioners. They convert four channels of the sinusoidal output of Tach Generators and one channel of analog strain gauge pressure to a digital signal that can be used by aircraft display and/or control systems. The -01 version has reverse protection diodes on pins 1 and 20 that allow the ST 32-01 to be powered from independent power buses. It is recommended on new installations.

FAQs

What is the ST 32 Torque & Tach Adapter?
The ST 32 is a dual-function signal conditioner that converts four sinusoidal tach-generator channels and one analog strain-gauge torque channel into digital outputs for aircraft displays and control systems.
What versions of the ST 32 are available?
Two versions exist: the ST 32‑00 (standard) and ST 32‑01, which adds reverse‑power protection diodes on power pins 1 and 20.
What input voltages and current does it require?
Operates on 18–32.2 VDC, draws <100 mA during normal use and up to 1 A when its internal heater runs.
What are the environmental and altitude ratings?
Functions from –55 °C to +70 °C and up to 55,000 ft altitude. Tested to DO‑160F standards.
What signals can it process?
Accepts 3-phase or monopole sinusoidal tach inputs (1–30 kHz, 0.4–150 Vpp) and a torque signal from 0–100 mV strain gauge sensors using 9–10.5 V excitation.
What are its physical specifications?
Dimensions: ~4.8″ × 4.8″ × 1″; Weight: ~0.62 lb. It mounts using #6 or #8 screws and includes a 37-pin DSUB connector.
Does it require calibration or maintenance?
No field calibration is required; maintenance is condition-based during periodic inspections.
What safety and installation precautions should I take?
Include a 1.5 A circuit breaker on power input and ensure proper grounding to airframe. Mount on grounded surface or tray to protect against lightning.
Where can I find installation guides and manual?
A full Installation Manual (including wiring diagrams and pinouts) is available from Sandia Aerospace or SEAerospace as “ST32 Aircraft Signal Conditioner Installation Manual.”
Where can I purchase the ST 32 and what is its price?
Available directly from Sandia Aerospace or authorized dealers; list price is $4,385 (ST 32‑01).
