Q: Is this unit ASD-B compatible?
— Asked on November 28, 2014
A: Yes, combing this with a MGL, GRT, DYNON Avionics and Advance Flight navigator with a a UAT- 978 will give you the 2020 mandate solution. The cost ratio to benefit factor will be a winner for the aircraft owner that currently does not have a WAAS GPS. uAvionix provides an affordable light-weight ADS-B compliant solution for those mostly VFR aircraft that do not currently have a WAAS GPS onboard. Both are ADS-B system with built-in WAAS GPS receiver to provide the required ADS-B position source in addition to providing ADS-B “In” and “Out”.

Q: What is the difference in benefits versus cost?
— Asked on November 28, 2014
A: If you have a Garmin 430/530 and only want to be compliant, any Mode S-ES would fit the need. But if you are only a VFR operator without a WAAS GPS installed and has an old Narco or KT76 Transponder asks, the cost effective solution would be a Freeflight or NAVWORX UAT and a Sandia STX 165 Transponder displayed on your MGL, GRT, DYNON or Advance Flight display.
